TroubleshootingExplorer / Patroller Plus (Waydoo Flyer ONE Plus)Safety

The motor on my Waydoo eFoil suddenly stops or makes strange noises during the ride — what should I do?

This is almost always caused by debris in the propeller or a loose connector. Immediately release the trigger, turn off the remote, lie flat on the board, and paddle back to shore. Then remove the battery and check the propeller and contacts. Never work on the propeller while the battery is inserted.

  1. Release the trigger, turn off the remote, lie flat on the board, and paddle back with your hands
  2. On land, turn off and remove the battery — only then work on the drive unit
  3. Check the propeller for sand/plants/string: remove the protective cap and propeller, clean them
  4. Check the Power Kit is seated firmly, tighten any loose L-screws
  5. Check the metal contacts for saltwater/corrosion: rinse with fresh water, dry, use rust remover if needed, reassemble dry

My Waydoo board vibrates or wobbles heavily, so I can barely keep my balance — what's causing this?

Heavy vibration where you can barely keep your balance almost always points to loose mounting screws on the Power Kit. Let go of the trigger, turn off the remote, and paddle back to shore lying down. Then take out the battery and retighten the mounting screws on the motor, mast, and wings.

  1. Let go of the trigger, turn off the remote, lie down on the board and paddle back
  2. On land: turn off and remove the battery
  3. Check the mounting/L-screws on the motor, mast, and wings for tightness and retighten (approx. 5–10 N·m — value from the Flyer EVO manual)
  4. Only reassemble and start once everything is securely tightened

The connection between the remote and the board keeps dropping while riding — what can I do?

Usually this is caused by a dropped Bluetooth connection, often after falling into the water. Let go of the trigger, turn off the remote, and paddle back. On land, check whether the Bluetooth icon is blinking: if so, restart the battery and pair again. If it stays unstable, contact support.

  1. Let go of the trigger, turn off the remote, lie down and paddle back
  2. Turn on the remote and check the Bluetooth icon — if it's blinking, there's no connection
  3. Restart the battery and pair the remote again
  4. For a stable signal, try to keep the nose of the board out of the water; don't cover the antenna inside the board (body/metal/water)
  5. If the connection stays unstable: contact support

TroubleshootingExplorer / Patroller Plus (PowerFlight Battery)Safety

The warning light on my Waydoo eFoil battery is glowing red, or it's not delivering any power — what does that mean?

A red warning light on the battery indicates a protection function. Two red blinks means undervoltage (charge it), three means overtemperature (let it cool down), four means overcurrent (recovers on its own after about 30 seconds), five means short circuit (restart the battery). If the battery delivers no power at all, first check the connection to the Power Kit.

  1. Red blink codes: 2× undervoltage → charge soon; 3× overtemperature → let cool down; 4× overcurrent → wait ~30 s, recovers on its own; 5× short circuit → restart the battery
  2. No output (no steady blue light): check the connection between battery and Power Kit, retighten the L-screws
  3. Fix the indicated cause, then turn the battery on again
  4. If the error persists or other lights blink: stop using it, contact support

TroubleshootingExplorer / Patroller Plus (Controller Plus)

My Waydoo remote shows an error code like "Err.1" or "Err.4" on startup — what does that mean?

An "Err." code on the Controller Plus display reports an internal sensor or GPS error on startup. Err.1 means angle sensor, Err.2 means splash initialization, Err.3 means both, Err.4 means GPS, Err.7 means all failed together. Restart the remote and battery once. If the code stays, contact support.

  1. Read the code: Err.1 angle sensor, Err.2 splash init, Err.3 angle sensor+splash, Err.4 GPS, Err.7 all failed
  2. Turn the remote and battery off and back on
  3. Don't go into the water while an Err. code is displayed
  4. If the error persists: contact support

TroubleshootingFlyer EVO (EVO Remote) · Explorer / Patroller Plus (Controller Plus)

I pull the trigger, but the propeller doesn't spin — or the trigger sticks. What's going on?

If the propeller doesn't respond to the trigger, the remote is usually in safety lock mode: if the trigger sits idle for a while (7 seconds on the EVO, 8 seconds on the Explorer/Patroller), it locks automatically. Hold the "−" button for about a second to unlock it. If the trigger is mechanically stuck, sand is often the cause.

  1. Release lock mode: hold the "−" button for approx. 1 second (locks after 7 s of no movement, 8 s on Explorer/Patroller; the propeller also won't spin while in the settings menu)
  2. EVO: don't hold the trigger while turning it on — otherwise you'll get a reduced throttle range; then restart or calibrate the trigger (long press "+")
  3. Sticking trigger: rinse the trigger area thoroughly with fresh water while repeatedly pulling/releasing it to flush out sand
  4. Let it dry and check that it works properly

Care & MaintenanceFlyer EVO · Explorer / Patroller Plus (Waydoo Flyer ONE Plus)

How do I clean and maintain my Waydoo eFoil after a session — especially after saltwater?

Rinse all parts thoroughly with fresh water after every session — after saltwater this is mandatory, otherwise contacts and mast will corrode. First turn off the remote and battery, disassemble the battery, Power Kit, and wings, rinse the mast, motor, and propeller for about a minute, and clean the DC ports. Dry everything before packing it up.

  1. Turn off the remote and battery, then remove the battery, Power Kit, front wing, and stabilizer wing
  2. Rinse the mast body, mast head, motor, and propeller (guard) with fresh water for about 1 minute — no salt or sand should remain
  3. Rinse the DC ports with fresh water and wipe them dry/clean with an alcohol swab
  4. Rinse the board, battery compartment, and mast mount; stand the EPP board upright and let it dry completely
  5. Rinse the remote (mind the trigger), wipe it with a dry cloth, and store it in a cool, dry place out of the sun

Care & MaintenanceFlyer EVO (Powerflight Battery)Safety

How do I maintain the contacts and terminals of my Waydoo battery so nothing corrodes?

The battery contacts are the most important maintenance point: dirty or oxidized terminals increase resistance, get hot, and in a worst case trigger a protective shutdown. Clean the DC ports and terminals with an alcohol swab, rinse with fresh water after saltwater use, and only charge once the connectors are dry. Never use WD40.

  1. After every session, clean the DC port and buttons with an alcohol-soaked cotton swab, then wipe dry
  2. Check the terminals/contacts for corrosion every 2 months; remove buildup with alcohol
  3. No WD40 or insulating sprays on the contacts — this worsens the connection
  4. Only charge once the connectors are completely dry (otherwise electrolytic corrosion)
  5. Hot, deformed, or corroded terminals: stop using it, replace the terminals or contact support

How do I replace a damaged propeller on my Waydoo eFoil?

You can swap out a damaged propeller yourself — but only with the battery turned off and disconnected. Turn the protective cap clockwise to remove it, loosen the "bullet" from the motor shaft using a flat wrench or M4 Allen key, and take off the old propeller. Insert the new pin and propeller the right way round.

  1. Turn off and remove the battery — only work on the propeller once this is done
  2. Turn the propeller guard cap clockwise to remove it and detach it from the propeller guard
  3. Loosen the "bullet" from the motor shaft using a flat wrench (EVO) or M4 Allen key (Explorer/Patroller), and take off the old propeller
  4. Replace the old propeller pin with a new one, centering it in the crosswise hole of the motor shaft
  5. Fit the new, undamaged propeller in the correct orientation (mind the groove), then reattach the bullet and protective cap

How do I properly store my Waydoo eFoil if I'm not going to use it for more than a month?

For breaks longer than a month, charge or discharge the battery to 40–60% — fully charged or fully drained both damage it. Store it somewhere cool, dry, out of the sun, never in a hot car, and never above 45 °C, ideally in a battery safety box. Clean and dry all parts thoroughly beforehand.

  1. Clean all parts and dry them completely (see cleaning after a session)
  2. Bring the battery to 40–60%; Explorer/Patroller: 'Healthy Charging' (press the charge button 4x) automatically stops at 80%
  3. Store the battery cool/dry, out of the sun, never in a car, and never above 45 °C — ideally in a safety box/fireproof bag, separate from the board
  4. Check the level about once a month (briefly hold the magnet to the button), recharge if needed to avoid deep discharge
  5. Store the Power Kit, wings, and remote dry, clean, and out of the sun (original packaging)

Battery & ChargingFlyer EVO (Powerflight Charger) · Explorer / Patroller Plus (Waydoo Lithium Battery Charger)Safety

How do I correctly charge the battery of my Waydoo eFoil?

Only charge with the original Waydoo charger in a dry, non-flammable location. Firmly connect the DC cable to the battery, then plug the AC cable into the outlet and start charging. A full charge takes around two hours; below 10 °C or above 45 °C, charging only starts once it's within the right temperature range.

  1. Place the battery in a cool, dry spot away from flammable/hot objects; use the original charger
  2. Firmly plug the DC cable into the battery port, lay the battery flat with the display facing up, then plug the AC cable into the outlet
  3. Start charging: on the EVO via the start/stop button on the DC cable; on the Explorer briefly press the linking button (blue → green flashing = charging)
  4. Fully charged after approx. 2 h — light turns solid green or the display turns off
  5. Charging won't start below 10 °C or above 45 °C — move it to a temperature-controlled spot; never yank the DC plug out abruptly while charging; let it cool down after a session before charging

OperationFlyer EVO (EVO Remote) · Explorer / Patroller Plus (Controller Plus)

How do I pair my Waydoo remote with the board if it doesn't connect automatically?

Normally the remote and board connect automatically once both are turned on. If that doesn't work, pair manually: on the EVO, hold the power and „−" buttons together for two seconds, select the board, confirm with the trigger, and confirm on the battery with the magnet. On the Controller Plus, it's done via the linking button on the battery.

  1. Turn on the remote first, then the battery — they often connect automatically
  2. EVO manual: hold power + „−" for 2 s → Bluetooth list opens → select the board with „+"/„−" → confirm with the trigger
  3. EVO: the battery signals confirmation is needed — briefly tap the magnet against the battery's power button; the Bluetooth icon lights up, control light turns green = connected
  4. Explorer/Patroller: turn on the Controller Plus for 5 s; within 1 min, press the linking button on the battery short + long (a long beep = pairing mode); then hold power + „−" until the Bluetooth icon disappears = paired
  5. New remote: turn off the old one first, then pair the new one

My Waydoo remote shows „Err.3" — what does that mean?

Err.3 indicates that two internal routines failed at startup: the angle sensor initialization and the „Splash" initialization. Turn the remote and battery fully off and back on. Don't head out on the water as long as the code is displayed — the flight attitude sensing isn't reliable in that state. If Err.3 persists, the internal sensor system is affected and support can help further.

  1. Turn the remote and battery off and back on
  2. Don't go into the water while Err.3 is displayed
  3. If Err.3 persists after the restart: internal sensor system affected → contact support

TroubleshootingExplorer / Patroller Plus (Controller Plus)

My Waydoo remote shows "Err.4" — what does that mean?

Err.4 means the GPS module in the Controller Plus remote couldn't initialize at startup. This mainly affects GPS-based readings like speed. Go outside with a clear view of the sky and restart both the remote and the battery once. If Err.4 persists even under open sky, the GPS module itself is affected — support can help with that.

  1. Go outside with a clear view of the sky (not under a roof/dense trees)
  2. Turn the remote and battery off and back on, let it search for GPS again
  3. If Err.4 persists under open sky: GPS module affected → support

My Waydoo remote shows "Err.7" — what does that mean?

Err.7 is the combined error: the angle sensor, "Splash" initialization, and GPS all failed together at startup. Turn the remote and battery completely off and back on. Do not ride under any circumstances while this code is showing. If Err.7 persists after the restart, that points to an internal fault in the remote — stop using it and contact support.

  1. Turn the remote and battery off and back on
  2. Don't go into the water while Err.7 is displayed
  3. If Err.7 persists after restarting: stop using the remote → support

Two red blinks means the undervoltage protection has triggered: the battery is too depleted and shuts off its output to protect itself. End your session, bring the battery safely ashore, and charge it soon with the original charger. Deep discharge permanently damages the cell, so don't leave it sitting. If it keeps blinking red after charging, stop using the battery and contact support.

  1. End the session, paddle back lying down, safely remove the battery from the board
  2. Charge the battery soon using the original charger (avoid deep discharge)
  3. If it still blinks red 2× after charging: stop using the battery → support

TroubleshootingExplorer / Patroller Plus (PowerFlight Battery)Safety

Four red blinks means the overcurrent protection has triggered: the battery briefly delivered too much current and shut off to protect itself. It usually recovers on its own after about 30 seconds. Wait a moment, then you can start again. If the overcurrent condition keeps recurring, check the propeller and drive for stiffness, and contact support if in doubt.

  1. Release the trigger and wait about 30 seconds — the overcurrent protection usually resets itself
  2. If it happens again, disconnect the battery and check the propeller/drive on land for debris and stiffness
  3. If the 4× code keeps returning despite a free-running drive: support

TroubleshootingExplorer / Patroller Plus (PowerFlight Battery)Safety

Five red blinks means the short-circuit protection has triggered: the battery detected a short circuit and immediately locked its output. Restart the battery once (turn it off and back on). Before that, check the DC port and contacts for water, dirt, or damage. If it blinks red 5× again afterward, do not continue using the battery under any circumstances — this is a safety-critical fault; contact support immediately.

  1. With the battery disconnected, check the DC port and contacts for water/dirt/damage, clean and dry them
  2. Turn the battery off and back on to reset the short-circuit protection
  3. If it blinks red 5× again afterward: safety-critical — stop using the battery, contact support immediately
