2. Overview
The eFoil Doctor is an AI-assisted helper. You can read the FAQ pages and use the chat without registration or providing personal data. We only process personal data where necessary to operate and improve the service.
3. Visiting the website (server logs)
When you access the pages, your browser transmits technically necessary data (including IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type), which our hosting/CDN provider Cloudflare processes briefly to deliver the pages and ensure security. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure, trouble-free operation (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR). The logs are deleted after a short period.
4. Using the eFoil Doctor chat
When you ask a question, we process your question, the selected brand and language to generate an answer. The process:
- Your question is sent to our backend (Supabase Edge Function, server location Frankfurt am Main / EU).
- A vector embedding is generated from the question (provider Voyage AI, USA) to find matching knowledge items.
- The answer is formulated by an AI language model (Anthropic, “Claude”, USA) based on our knowledge base.
To identify knowledge gaps and improve the assistant, we store the question asked, brand, language, the match quality and your optional rating (“Was this helpful? Yes/No”). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in quality assurance (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR).
Please do not enter any personal data into the questions — the service does not need it.
5. Transfer to third countries (USA)
The providers Cloudflare (hosting/CDN), Voyage AI and Anthropic process data (also) in the USA. The transfer is based on the EU Commission’s standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR) or — where available — certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Despite these safeguards, there is a residual risk of access by US authorities.
6. Local storage in your browser
For convenience, the chat stores the selected interface language and the previous conversation locally in your browser (localStorage) so that follow-up questions can be answered in context. This data remains on your device; you can delete it at any time via your browser settings. We do not use cookies for analytics or advertising.
7. Recipients / processors
- Website hosting & CDN: Cloudflare, Inc. (USA; global content delivery network, also served from the EU)
- Backend & database: Supabase Inc. (server region EU / Frankfurt)
- Text embeddings: Voyage AI (USA)
- AI answers: Anthropic PBC (USA)
8. Storage period
Server logs are deleted shortly. We keep the questions and ratings stored in the chat only as long as necessary for evaluation and improvement, then delete or anonymise them.
9. Your rights
You have the right to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. To exercise them, contact support@e-surfer.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, e.g. the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
